Denver Art Museum highlights Jenny Morgan's "Mother" for Mother's Day
DENVER — In honor of Mother's Day, the Denver Art Museum is highlighting a painting titled "Mother" from 2013 by Jenny Morgan (@jenny_morgan_jm on Instagram) that will soon be on view in the museum's Modern and Contemporary art galleries.
Morgan is known for her work in realistic figuration. She now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York, but lived in the Denver area earlier in her career when she attended the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in 2003.
This work, "Mother," blends her early portraiture with elements that suggest the spiritual with its bold use of red and connection between the mother and child. The contrast in colors between the two figures is striking.
Since 2005, she has shown her work extensively across the US, primarily in Denver and New York City, including her 2017 exhibition "Skin Deep" at the MCA Denver.
