The US National Weather Service in Boise, Idaho, reported unusual temperature patterns visible in this morning’s infrared satellite imagery. In parts of Alberta and Saskatchewan, the ground temperatures are the same as the temperatures in high clouds. In the area east of Edmonton, temperatures have dropped to -40°F. The Rocky Mountains are currently blocking this cold airmass from moving into Southwest Idaho and Southeast Oregon.
