**27J Schools Celebrate Outstanding Achievements by Students and Staff**
Brighton, Colorado — The recent 27J Schools Board meeting was a time for celebration as students and staff were recognized for their exceptional state and national achievements. The evening highlighted accomplishments across various platforms, ranging from athletics to arts and academics, making it a proud moment for the 27J community.
### Brighton High School:
Several individuals from Brighton High School were honored for their remarkable feats this year:
- **Brooke Johnson** was named the 5A/4A Rocky Mountain Pitcher of the Year.
- **Taylor Madsen** earned national recognition, placing second in the USA Clay Target League.
- **Kori Zirker** and **Mateah Archuleta** qualified for national competition in the Solo Musical category of the International Thespian Society.
- **Justin Daigle** received a prestigious accolade, being named the H.L. Hall National Yearbook Advisor of the Year.
### Prairie View High School:
Prairie View High School also stood out with a fantastic achievement:
- **Kalei Dreiling** secured 1st place at the state level and a notable 9th place at nationals in the Skills USA Photography competition.
### Riverdale Ridge High School:
Riverdale Ridge High School had a memorable season, with the 5A Girls Softball Team clinching the State Championship. The team roster included:
- **Zoie Linville (#1), Arianna Gonzales (#2), Olivia Vargas (#3), Jerzi McArthur (#4), Jordyn Damian (#5), Kiana Cordova (#6), Lenae Medina (#7), Neila Lucero (#8), Peyton Saenz (#9), Mady Ortiz (#11), Brynn Trujillo (#13), Sage Englert (#15), Addi Sulley (#16), Shealyn Frashier (#17), Jayden Espinoza (#20), Aubrie Lerch (#21), Ganessa Duran (#22), Jazmyn Sandoval (#23), Jaeanna Sandoval (#24), Brynn Garduno (#28).**
Additionally, standout player **Mady Ortiz (#11)** was named the 5A Pitcher of the Year.

Meridian crews train for vehicle into building rescue

Rocky Mount to stop water service on English Road

The Rocky Mount Police Department said it joined the nation in recognizing Juneteenth on June 19. The department also referenced the Emancipation Proclamation and Union troops arriving in Galveston, Texas, in 1865.

Rocky Mount Police Investigate Child’s Fatal Dog Attack
Rocky Mount police said officers responded to an animal attack on Star Street involving a 2-year-old who later died at UNC Nash Hospital. The two dogs involved were surrendered to animal services, and the investigation is ongoing.
